Event Information

Private showings of films are arranged at Uttoxeter Cinebowl from September/October through until approximately April.  Usually, viewings of films which are currently showing are arranged monthly although more frequent shows may be put on if suitable films are available.  A choice of films may also be offered.  If we can be reasonably assured of a satisfactory attendance, we can also bring in films especially for us to view.  It is often only possible to arrange film shows 2-3 weeks beforehand.

The viewing days vary so as not to repeatedly clash with other U3A group activities.  However, due to changes in the scheduling of films shown to the the general public, shows are now more likely to take place in the morning rather than the afternoon as previously and this can restrict our choice of days.  Morning showings will normally start at 10.15 am.  For afternoon showings, the start time will usually be between 1.15 and 2.00 pm.

Members of neighbouring U3As (e.g. Uttoxeter, Stafford, Stone, Ashbourne and Burton) are also invited to attend.

Next Film show:  Any further showings this session will be advised in the normal way.  It is however probable that we will take our normal summer break and resume the cinema visits in around September.

The cost of admission is £3.60.   Please take your U3A membership card to be able to prove eligibility for attendance.

Tickets are normally purchased immediately beforehand but they can also be obtained by personally calling at the Cinebowl (after 4 pm on weekdays or 10 am at weekends) in the days immediately prior to the performance.  Booking by telephone or the internet is not permitted.

The Cinebowl is located between the B & Q and Tesco stores and has some dedicated car parking.

If full, attendees may consider  parking in the nearby car park serving the retail stores but please note that you may see one or more signs indicating that the car park is for retail customers only and that contravention of this may lead to clamping.  If you do consider parking in front of one of the stores, it may well be best to park in quiet area away from such signs and possibly visit one of the stores.  If this parking requirement is enforced, it is more likely to be cars which are parked for much of the day that are targetted. (It appears that most of these signs have recently been removed).
