I'm Peter Lamb the group leader. Welcome to my webpage.

After being approached by a lot of people I decided that the time had come to try and help them understand a little of what computing is all about. As the title implies, it's a course aimed at the person who doesn't understand the first thing about computing.
I feel that a lot us "old un's" (and not so old) are missing out on the world of computing - whether it's sending an email, surfing the web or generally being able to understand the funny language that these computer types speak.

The course content will be roughly as follows: a very brief history of how the computer evolved. identifying the parts of a computer. switching on and looking at the screen icons (the first of many funny computer words) moving on to the hierarchical structure of the computer. (another funny word) then on to file handling. One of the most important areas of computing.

Th courses will be from 9.15 - 12:00noon in the Guildhall computer suite.

1; switch on a PC.

2; make a mouse do what you want it to.

3; select, two ways to select

4; copy and paste

5; navigate your PC.

6; open an application.

7; make notes.

8; put a shortcut on you desktop for your notes.

9; make folders and organise your collections.
