Event Information
Phil and Sandy Boyer cite Robert Louis Stevenson, " For my part I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move." Their favourite activity is travelling and enjoying the landscape, food and culture of different places.
The members of this group aim to share and discuss their different experiences using a variety of photo media such as digital or 'movie' slideshows, or travel videos. We are transported around the globe by the visual impact of colourful images and a 'taste' of foreign culture. As always we appreciate the contributions made by members to our enjoyment. We welcome all U3A members to come to any of our sessions that appeal. We are a friendly lot and enjoy chatting about our trips.
The Winter programme for 2012 will begin with a comprensive tour of the Loire Valley(in 2 parts), particularly the famous Castles or Chateaux, ranging from the Early Middle Ages to the Renaissance period. Part I will reflect on The Plantagenets power in the 12th Century, who held court in the Loire at the time they became Kings of England. Part 2 follows the French monarchy(16-17th C) and their more romantic renaissance-style Chateaux("Disney-esque") There will also be a feast of colour from the Lake District and India and a look at some National trust properties of interest
The group meets at Tean Church Hall, Vicarage Road, Tean (off Hollington Road), at 1.30 pm (to 3.30pm) normally on the 2nd Thursday of the month, from October to March. There is ample parking in the hall grounds.
